I agree with Esther Davis's artcle "A word on artistic political correctness" that art has no limits (since it is the fruit of human imagination) and that this concept is being attacked by the perspective of cultural appropriation and pieces that have hit the spotlight that have not been examined by this perspective. Even, Esther says several ways that this appropriation can assume that goes from a caucasian actor playing a Japanese manga character up to a traditional Indian dress in a music video that is clearly not Indian.
Do we really need cultural appropriation? In a way, yes, we do. Because it is an issue that should always be taken gently into consideration. But often this appropriation ends up limiting art. Therefore, it is necessary to balance the cultural appropiation of cultural value.
