Hello, my name is Gabriela Ruas. I read the article "A Word on Artistic Political Correctness", and I'd like to express my opinion on this letter to the editor. First of all, I liked the article, that's why I decided to write. I agree that cultural appropriation "is a delicate matter and it should always be taken into consideration by artists", but I don't think you should forbid people to wear certain types of clothing, accessories or hair styles. I don't think that there should be any judgement about people's appearance. If you are white and you want to wear your hair in a dreadlocks style, I don't see a problem. And I don't see a problem if you are black and you want to wear a straight hair. I think that everyone should be able to wear whatever they like and look however they want. That's my opinion.

I think this article is very useful, but the question of the article is: "how we do balance or even differentiate cultural appropiation from cultural appreciation?" Well, to answer this, we first have to know the meaning of the words. Appropiation: "the action of taking something for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission". Appreciation: "recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something". So, cultural appreciation is admire someone's culture and cultural appropiation is when a culture "adopts" specific elements from another culture, this is the difference between cultural appropiation and cultural appreciation
CULTURAL APPROPRIATION OR CULTURAL APPRECIATION?
I read the "A word on artistie political correctness" and I think to much about the question "cultural appropriation or cultural appreciation". Using me for a example: I really like Japanes culture. I really love watch animes and read mangas, that's why I'm trying to learning Japanese. But I know there I'm not Japanese and that's the point. The line between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation it's really short. Cultural appropriation is more aggressive. It's like when you steal something from someone weaker, in art, it's like plagiarism. Cultural appreciation it's when you use something there you like from any culture, but it doesn't take away your own identity and doesn't makes your culture

I didn't watch any plays, concerts, movies, or dance performances in a week.
I also think it is a delicate issue, but it often depends on the point of view, sometimes it can be cutaneous appropriation for some and not for others.
I think that if there is a cult, but it is not offending or diminishing, I don't see a problem.
My motivation was to express my opinion on the question presented.

So, I read the article and, I do not agree with some parts, but, art doesent have limits, because it isnt be called ''art'', everybody have a diferent culture, and with a lot imagination the culture is more beautiful
I found the article interesting, because it talks about the cultures of the countries and the artistic political corrections.
