STORY CURVE
Overall, making a video is like telling a story. So, for this story to catch your audience’s interest, the plot has to be engaging and exciting. For that, screenplays usually follow a story curve, also called “storytelling”. Regardless of the genre or type of the video, creating your script with the elements of the story curve in mind may be the key to catch the viewers’ attention.
A story is usually based on the trajectory of someone referred to as the main character. The story of this character takes place in a setting. The story exists to show something crucial that happened to the character, which we call an inciting incident. The story exists because of the inciting incident, showing the character’s struggle to generate new situations or thoughts. Then it reaches the highest point of the story, that is, the climax, which is the moment of greatest tension in the narrative. Finally, there is the resolution, or conclusion of the story.
